JANUARY 2012 Monthly Walk.

On a gloriously crisp clear morning 18 members of the church walking group set out to walk around the lake at Lakeside Doncaster. Our choice for the first walk of the year is made considering the possibility of winter weather.

The dry pathways and bright sunshine were an absolute bonus on Saturday the 14^th January unlike the previous year’s walk when the weather was cold, windy and wet. Lots of other people had the same idea and had chosen to either walk, jog, walk their dog or feed the ducks , also a couple of groups were doing warm up exercises on the grass.

The walk lasted approximately 1 hour and as we reached the last section alongside the waters edge we stopped, this is where most of the bird population of the lake congregate, eagerly waiting and knowing that someone will soon bring them food. We spent a while trying to name the many different varieties of birds, as they fought over the scraps of bread. Then it was back to the car park all going our separate ways but refreshed after our morning walk.
