Six o’clock Prayers Every Tuesday at 6pm a small group of people meet in St Peter’s and St Paul’s Church. Our purpose is to pray for the community of Barnby Dun and to pray for you. We pray specifically for people who are sick or bereaved or facing other difficulties in life. We give thanks, too, for good things that have happened, such as the birth of a child. We also pray for each road in Barnby Dun in turn, or rather, for the people who live on them. If you would like us to pray for you or someone close to you, please let us know (contact Revd Jan Foden on 882835, or drop a note through the Vicarage door, or pass a message via any church member). We follow a very simple service, light candles to help us focus our prayers, and listen to quiet music. You are welcome to join us. We always finish by 6.30pm..

Real Easter Egg 2012
A letter from the Real Easter Egg Team:
Out of 80 million Easter eggs sold in the UK every year, the Real Easter Egg is still the only one to tell the Easter story on the box.
Despite last year’s overwhelming demand the supermarkets continue to refuse to place large orders, not wanting mention of Jesus on their shelves, in a significant way next Easter.
To make the Real Easter Egg campaign a success in 2012, we need individuals, churches and schools to place direct orders with us to continue to prove demand.
To help with this we are able to offer free delivery to schools and churches on any order if placed and paid for by 23rd January 2012. Each Real Easter Egg costs £3.99 with free delivery.
The press will carry a story on the egg in January along with ads in major church publications so you should find growing interest. Also, we have made some improvements to The Real Easter Egg which we think will make it even more attractive: inside the box is a copy of the Easter story in booklet form the Easter story on the box is a colourful visual as opposed to last year’s text only version
if you open the lid, you will see “Happy Easter” for the first time ever on an Easter Egg, there s a quote from the bible-the resurrection text from Mark. heavier card for the box has been used, brighter colours and the three crosses on the front are bigger
We believe these improvements will make the Real Easter Egg an even more attractive gift and it remains a unique way to spread the Easter story in 2012.
Please sign the list in church if you want to order a Real Easter Egg.

Home Communion: We have a small number of church members who are licensed to administer Home Communion, if you or anyone one you know are unable to attend church for any reason and would like to receive the sacrament at home please contact Revd. Jan Foden (882835) who will be pleased to make arrangements. +++ Singles Lunch Group This group meet four Sundays a year to share time and fellowship with each other within the Church, but reach out to members of the community who have become ‘single’ when their contact with the Church has been through a funeral. There are other ‘Singles’ included, bachelors, spinsters and those who have become separated or divorced. Sundays can be lonely days, as families tend to do things together so by sharing lunch and meeting people in similar circumstances an enjoyable afternoon is passed. The age group ranges from 6 to 92 years , all young at heart, after lunch there is time to chat and some entertainment is organised. The first lunch 22 people came, averaging now between 36 and 40. Other people have been invited but are not ready to take the first step on their own. The lunch costs £ 5 per head with children coming free, with advance warning we do cater for special diets. Some of the men have joined the Men’s Group that meets in the evening on the last Thursday of each month and the ladies have been put in touch with ladies groups. So if you want to know more about the group and live in Barnby Dun please contact me for more details about the next lunch. Have fun ... and help to raise funds. Many of you in our village value the beautiful church of St. Peter & St.. Paul, you possibly don't realise that it costs £740 each week to pay our contribution to the Sheffield Diocese to which we belong, and for other expenses such as insurance, heat & light, maintenance of services, not to mention any repairs to the building. In considering our financial situation, many events have been arranged over the coming months to help raise much needed funds, please consider supporting as many of these as you can, they are not all taking place in church.
